What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda originated in India 5000 years ago. It is the oldest known medical science.Ayurveda is a branch of Atharva veda.Vedas are texts of ancient knowledge written by sages of India in Sanskrit(Devnagri) language.The information was in the form of slokas or verses written on palm leaves.Ayurveda is a time tested system of medicine.

In Ayurveda the treatment is based on tridoshas or three life energies namely Vata, pitta and Kapha.The basic body constitution or Prakruthi is an important factor in Ayurveda treatment. The treatment is for both body and mind in ayurveda.Ayurveda also analyses the mental energies namely Satva,Rajas and Tamas.

Ayurveda offers cure to most of the illnesses for which there is no effective treatment in modern medicine. Ayurveda urges you to listen to your body and mind and come back to nature. Ayurveda texts explains etiology,symptoms and treatments of diseases in great detail.The diagnostic methods namely Dasavidha Pareeksha are also explained in the texts.The various lifestyle diseases like Diabetes,migraine,stress,high blood pressure, asthma, obesity, degeneration, rheumatism, sexual disorders etc can be treated with Ayurveda. The treatment involves intake of Ayurvedic medicines which are made according to the formulations in ancient texts. The treatment also involves lifestyle correction,diet regulation and mind control.The most important therapy in Ayurveda is Panchakarma which is the detoxifying process.Other supporting external therapies are available for rejuvenation,oleation, sudation and relaxation.Purvakarmas prepare the body for Panchakarmas.
